Ponyo didn’t know what to say. Eating a bit of the ham she smiled brightly. Her eyes sparkle with happiness. She only wished Sosuke was there with them though. “What do you want to know. . ?” she questioned. She didn’t know what to tell him. “He’s powerful and makes sure the world keeps imbalance,” she smiled as she blushed a bit in thought. “He’s really kind and caring. I love him,” her eyes were half open as she dazed out. She was getting sleepy, but she was trying to keep herself up. She had to find Sosuke, that’s why she was running around town in the first place. “I wonder if he’s happy.”“I’m sure everything is fine,” Howl let on. He was resting his chin on his hand, elbow on the table. “He probably misses you too. Does that mean you wish to see him now? Your father is standing just outside the door.” He motioned toward the door. “Shall I let him in?”
Ponyo’s sleepy eyes glanced up to the male as they widen a bit. She somehow knew he was on the other side of the door, but maybe she should see him. He might know where Sosuke was at. “Uh-huh,” she nodded saying yes as she waited for him to let him in.
“Not just yet,” said Howl moving swiftly to the door. He turned a colored circle and the pounding stopped. “He won’t be able to bother us now.” He pulled a chair from the table and swept an elegant bow. “My lady.” Ponyo sat down looking at him curiously. “We’ll let him in after we’ve talked.” Howl walked over to a cupboard and pulled out a tray of hot ham. He scooted it onto the table then sat down opposite Ponyo. “Dig in, my princess. And tell me about this father of yours.”
Ponyo blinked a few times in confusion. Seeing him in a rush to get her to talk to him she turned her head with a puff as if she didn’t like what he did. “I’m not saying anything!” she was being stubborn now, but when the scent of the ham raced to her nose she couldn’t help, but to want to eat some of it. Unconsciously she sat down at the table with her finger in her mouth with her eyes on the ham. It looked so good - she wanted to eat, but she felt bad that her father was missing out. “Why can’t Mr. Howl ask daddy himself?
“I will,” Howl said coolly. “But I would like an outside opinion first. People tend to talk themselves up.” Howl smiled charmingly at the little girl. “And he won’t miss out on the ham either. I’ll offer him some when I allow him to enter.” He leaned casually onto the table with his elbow and placed his head delicately atop his hand. “So, Miss Ponyo, please do tell.” He knew without a doubt the little girl would speak now. She was a sweet girl. She wouldn’t deny him information when he asked so earnestly and politely.
